Country relations in the future

The newspapers in these days are filled with news about wars, terrorism and disparity between countries. But is that true and how will this be in the future?

Today

We judge the economic strength of a country as a function of the GDP after which the USA is the most powerful economic country in the world, China on position 2. In the military the USA has a much bigger distance to the competition Russia, China and
India.

In the Future

To get an idea about how this will be in future we imagine some cases they could happen.

Case 1(One superpower)

In this case a superpower will set through and starts controlling the whole world. Candidates for this job are mainly the USA, China and Russia, the states with the top three militaries today because only with economic pressure it will be really hard to subdue a country. From our three candidates has one of them more potential than the other two, China. China grew and is economically still growing and growing while the USA has some problems with its economy. This gets to a problem when a country wants to be a superpower for a long time. In addition to that, it is much easier to annex other states with only one possible politic opinion in the state than in a democracy because then you allow lots of criticism.
But when a state established itself everything will get more easy and organised, for example questions like whom the space or the moon belongs to.

But with which probability will this case happen?
I think that this scenario is quite unlikely because to do this without getting totally destroyed China would have to have a military bigger than all of the other states together and this is in the next 70 years indeed fantastic.

Case 2(World War III)

The probably scariest scenario that could happen is another big war. Catalysts for such a disaster would be for example that the plan of a state to get the control of the whole world (case 1) fails and the other countries would destroy this state. Another big risk for a war like this is the fight for territories in the space or new energy resources. Some scientist also think that there will be a fight for fresh water which I cannot quite follow because the main military power belongs to the high developed states and I think there will always be enough water for all of these states if not they will have enough money to build desalination plants before the situation escalates.
This war would be absolutely devastating because the world today is more armed than any when else in the history. I think that the earth itself would be in danger when every country used its whole armoury.

This case is way more possible than the first because especially the question around new energy resources and territories on the moon or the Mars are quite difficult.

Case 3(Ideal world)

This is the case hopefully everyone wants because it is the only way without war and disparity. But to get it we have to be merciful which the strongest ability of the human being isn’t. I have the vision that the lower developed countries will get pulled on one level by the stronger countries. That would make the world much more profitable and peaceful. And when this happened the states have to solve the problem with the territories in the space. A solution for this problem could be that every country gets territories depending on their economic power or even on their solidarity which will be very hard to define.
But if this is all done the mankind has a greater future because this would create by far the most productive version of mankind without any wars among each other. This case has the potential of bringing us to a civilisation like we see today in film Star Wars.

Everything sounds amazing but the problem is that this case is the most improbable one of all. Like I said, the mankind is not really good in helping each other, especially the least.

Conclusion

As you can see the most likely case in our list is also the most terrible but it doesn't mean that the better cases are impossible. If we elect the right people today there is a higher chance of a greater tomorrow!
